About
The Polish producer behind B-THERMIQ.
Manufacturer since 1982
The Polish producer behind B-THERMIQ®.
Forty-four years of coatings made from original recipes: never licensed, never outsourced, never copied. From a single laboratory in Imielin to a thermo-reflective technology now applied across three continents.
A factory built from formulas, not franchises.
Plastochem was founded in Imielin, southern Poland, in 1982, at the foot of the country’s industrial heartland and at the crossroads of Europe’s main north-south and east-west logistics arteries.
From day one, the company refused the easy route. While competitors imported recipes and paid royalties on foreign know-how, Plastochem developed every single product in its own laboratory: acrylic paints, dispersion paints, PVC adhesives, construction primers, and eventually the thin-film thermo-reflective coatings that became B-THERMIQ®.
Today the plant runs under ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, supplies industrial clients across the EU, Albania and Russia, and turns out up to 50 tonnes of paint, 20 tonnes of adhesives and 20 tonnes of primers every month, all from formulations that exist nowhere else.
Founder
The Creator of B-THERMIQ®
Dr. Jerzy Socha (1947-2021)
Dr. Jerzy Socha was the visionary chemist behind B-THERMIQ®, the thin-layer thermo-reflective insulation technology now redefining thermal comfort in buildings, industry and beyond.
Born in Imielin, he earned a Master’s in Plastics Technology from the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, and a Doctorate in polymer copolymerisation from the Tadeusz Kościuszko Cracow University of Technology. That foundation in chemical engineering and materials science would shape everything Plastochem became.
In the early 1980s he founded the company in his hometown and set a rule that would define it for the next four decades: every formula developed in-house, every recipe born in his own laboratory, no licences purchased from outside. Under that discipline, Plastochem grew into a recognised name in Polish construction chemistry: water-based coatings, adhesives and specialty products, all original.
May 2009 — The fire
A fire tore through the Plastochem plant and reduced it to ruins. Jerzy was caught inside.
He survived third-degree burns over 80% of his body. After a month in the Silesian Burn Treatment Centre, he walked back into the wreckage of his own factory and said six words:
I will rebuild the plant.
By March 2010, the factory was operational again.
Then came the most productive decade of his life.
From that moment on, Jerzy dedicated himself entirely to a single problem: how to insulate a building with less than a millimetre of coating.
The answer was vacuum microspheres: billions of microscopic glass bubbles arranged in a labyrinth of reflective barriers, each one bouncing radiant heat back the way it came. It was a solution conventional insulation could not match, and it became B-THERMIQ®.
Dr. Jerzy Socha passed away on 16 December 2021. His legacy lives in every wall, roof and façade now coated with the technology he spent the last twelve years of his life perfecting: proof that real innovation is not bought. It is earned in the laboratory, often the hard way.
The work continues.
The plant Jerzy rebuilt in 2010 still runs today: the same 800 m² production hall, the same in-house laboratory where every B-THERMIQ® batch is formulated, the same refusal to outsource what can be made better in Imielin.

B-THERMIQ® is not a brand built on marketing. It is a coating technology built on forty-four years of stubborn, original chemistry, and on the conviction of one man that thermal insulation could be reinvented in less than a millimetre.
